Terms of use

These terms govern the use of the PrayerNight app and the prayernight.org website. By creating an account, you accept them. Our privacy policy explains what we do with your data.

1. Who publishes PrayerNight?

2. The service

PrayerNight lets you share prayer requests and material needs with communities (parishes, groups, families…), pray for one another ("I prayed"), offer help ("I can help") and give thanks when a prayer is answered. The app is free.

3. Your account

• You must be at least [À COMPLÉTER / TO BE COMPLETED: minimum age, e.g. 16] to create an account.
• You agree to provide a valid e-mail address and to keep your password confidential. You are responsible for what is done from your account.
• When signing up, you give your explicit consent to the processing of your requests, which may reveal your religious beliefs. Without this consent, the app cannot work.
• You can delete your account at any time from the app (Profile → Delete my account).

4. Communities

• A community is created by a user, who becomes its leader. Leaders can appoint other leaders, approve new members and, in moderated communities, approve requests before they are published.
• Nothing about a community is visible before you are a member. Leaving a community removes the requests you shared there.
• Leaders agree to moderate their community with kindness and to handle the reports they receive.

5. What you post

• You remain the owner of your requests and messages. You only allow us to show them to the people you chose (members of the communities you share them with), for as long as the service requires.
• Talk about yourself, or with the consent of the person concerned. Do not post information about another person's health, private life or situation without their consent.
• Forbidden: illegal, hateful, violent, discriminatory, harassing or sexual content; impersonation; advertising, solicitation and fundraising; repetitive or automated messages.
• You are responsible for what you post.

6. "I can help"

Offering help puts two people in touch: the message and contact details you provide are shown only to the person who made the request. PrayerNight takes no part in the help given, handles no payment between users and cannot be held responsible for what happens next. Stay careful: share only what is needed and never send money to someone you do not know.

7. Reports and moderation

Anyone can report a request or stop seeing a person's requests. The community's leaders are then notified. We may remove content that breaches these terms and suspend or delete its author's account, after a warning except in urgent cases or serious breaches.

8. Availability and liability

We do our best to keep PrayerNight running well and continuously, but the service is provided free of charge and as is: it may be interrupted for maintenance, change or go down. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for content posted by users or for exchanges between them. PrayerNight is not an emergency, medical or counselling service: if someone is in danger, call the emergency services (112 in Europe).

9. Donations

Donations are voluntary, made through PayPal, and give no right to anything in return. They fund the project's hosting and development.

10. Intellectual property

The PrayerNight name, logo, app and this website are protected. You may not copy or reuse them without our written permission.

11. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. For any significant change, we will notify you in the app before it takes effect; if you disagree, you can delete your account.

12. Governing law
